Stepping into my studio, lighting a candle or incense, putting on my apron, tying my hair back. Assembling the interior supports by hand, cutting the linen, stretching, and stapling - my fingers sore from the effort. One layer of gesso, sometimes two. Selecting colors, mixing them on my palette, adding water, selecting brushes.
Adding one layer of paint, then another. Switching colors, changing brushes. My hands and mind and soul working together like a symphony.
And while it may not seem like it on the surface, each step is infused with intention, reverence, and spirit. I’m not religious in the traditional Western sense, nor am I making a sacrifice to an ancient god in a faraway land. But this ritual of painting, of connecting to creativity in such an intimate way? It’s my version of that. My way of communing with something larger than myself. It centers me, keeps me whole, keeps me grounded.
It keeps me dreaming.
And, in the end, I guess that’s what I hope for my work after it leaves my hands - that it helps you dream a little, too.

meet the artist
I'm Sara, a contemporary abstract artist and creative director based in Portland, Oregon.
Working in subtle variations of color and reflections of light evocative of the natural world, I approach painting with a layered style. Painting primarily with oil, my work is soulful and contemplative, generally working in the colors reflective of the rainy Pacific Northwest I call home.
My work can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Asia.

These are downloadable prints, meaning you're purchasing the files to print on your own. No prints will be mailed to you.
How do I download my files?
Once you purchase the prints, you'll be directed to a page that has links to download your files.
What's the return policy?
Because this is a digital product that is instantly downloadable upon purchase, returns and exchanges are not allowed. Thanks for your understanding!
How do I print them? What if they don't look exactly the same when I print them as they do online?
You're welcome to print them on your home printer or send them to a professional printer. And while we do our best to color-correct each image, we cannot account for differences in monitor quality and setup, so colors may vary slightly from what you see on your screen.
What sizes do the prints come in? How big can I print them?
The prints come ready to print in four sizes: 5x7 inches, 8x10 inches, 11x14 inches, and 16x20 inches. It's recommended that you print 16x20 inches or smaller only. Any larger, and the print may be pixelated, however, that's up to your discretion.
Can I hang them in a different direction? (Horizontal instead of vertical, etc.)
Absolutely! The beauty of abstract art is that you can hang it however you'd like.
